A local college student, Nina, came to Bright Hope for a pregnancy test. She said she couldn’t afford to raise a child and made it clear she wanted an abortion. After a positive pregnancy test and ultrasound, Nina declined our offer of prenatal vitamins and Before You Decide publication. She did listen to options counseling from her patient advocate, Jane, including the physical and mental risk factors of abortion. She scheduled a second ultrasound appointment.
At her next ultrasound, Nina and her boyfriend watched the screen closely, asking questions and commenting on what they saw. They shared that they did not like the idea of abortion or its possible mental health and relationship consequences. They also said both of their families were supportive of the pregnancy.
Before they left, Nina and her boyfriend gladly accepted an offer to pray for them and their baby, which they decided to keep!
